The aim of the Estonian Integration Programme 2008-2013 is to support all permanent residents in becoming part of Estonian society by sharing values and the official language. As a result of successful integration, everyone can become accomplished on their own and feel safe by participating in the economic, social, political and cultural life of the society. There are opportunities in Estonia for speaking other languages and developing national cultures.
In achieving these goals, the Integration Foundation contributes to three fields of activity based on the integration programme, the Foundation’s strategy and policy paper:
- educational and cultural integration
- social and economic integration
- legal and political integration
In terms of migration, the aim of the Foundation is to support migration processes and raise funds for that purpose. The Foundation also offers counselling for returning citizens and expatriates on migration issues and gives them financial support when necessary. The Foundation offers financial migration support for returning to Estonia, immigration as well as deportation. The Foundation is also engaged with counselling on migration issues.
The implementation of activities in different fields is funded by the state via the Ministries of Culture and Research and Education and from the European Union funds - the European Social Fund and the European Fund for the Integration of Third-Country Nationals (EIF). |
